1) First, make sure the projector is plugged into the power outlet and turned on. 2) Next, start up your computer and go to System Preferences. 3) Select Displays, then click Arrangement. 4) Click Mirror Displays or Extend Displays. 5) If you selected Extend Displays, select the name of the display that is connected to your projector.
The first cable you need is an HDMI cable. This will be the easiest way to connect your computer to your projector. It is possible, however, that some projectors might not have an HDMI input port. If this is the case, you'll need a DVI-to-HDMI adapter or an Apple Thunderbolt Digital AV Adapter, which are both available for purchase at Apple stores and other retailers.

Extend your desktop
Connecting your Mac to a projector is an easy process that you can do with just a few clicks. The first thing you'll need to do is open System Preferences and then click Displays. Next, click the Arrangement tab and select 'Extend my desktop onto this display.' If you have more than one display, check the box next to the one you want to extend your desktop onto before clicking the 'OK' button.
Use video mode for movies and games
To connect a projector, first plug the other end of your VGA cable into the appropriate port on your projector. Next, plug one end of the white audio cable into the headphone jack on your Mac and plug the other end into the corresponding audio port on your projector. Fully insert the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on your Mac. The cables should stay plugged in at all times, so you can unplug them quickly when you need to move your laptop or workstation.
