5 Steps to Setting Up a Wi-Fi Hotspot on Your Windows 11 PC

A Wi-Fi hotspot if you need to use your laptop, tablet, or phone as an Internet connection while you’re away from home or at the office. In fact, it can even come in handy at home if you don’t have a landline Internet connection but want to use your laptop on the same Wi-Fi network as your other devices, like streaming Netflix from your PC to your TV and games console.

Step 1: Turn On WiFi

Turning WiFi on is the first step in setting up your hotspot. To turn it on, open the Control Panel and click Wireless and Networking. On the left-hand side, you will see a list of options. Click Manage Wireless Networks. You will then be taken to an interface where you can create a new network or find an existing one that was saved before.

Step 2: Enable Sharing

Open the Control Panel and click Network and Sharing. Select Change advanced sharing settings. Select the tab for Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection. Check the box for Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection. Click OK. Under Home or Work, select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks. If you don't see your Wi-Fi network listed, it is likely not yet broadcasting its SSID in a format that can be detected by your World phone. You can either restart your World phone, which will broadcast an SSID, or you can use another wireless device (such as an Android phone) to detect and share with it the SSID of your existing Wi-Fi hotspot.

Step 3: Connect to the Internet

Select your network name from the list and type in the password. If you don't have a password, select the option No password. If you've never set up a Wi-Fi hotspot before, these next steps will be easy.

Next click on OK at the bottom of the page. You're done! You can now access the internet wirelessly by connecting to your new hotspot or by connecting to it via Ethernet cable if available.

Step 4: Set up Security

For the most part, you should be able to set up any security measures. However, if you want some peace of mind and don't have you can use WPA2 Personal encryption. This will encrypt your information so one can access it without the password.

1) Click Wireless Network Connection in the start menu.

Step 5: Customize Name/Password

You can customize the name and password of your hotspot before you start it. This is something that you may want to do people can see the name of your network as they are trying to connect, and this may influence their decision. If you have any special offers or promotions, these would also be good things to include in the name of your network.

For security reasons, you must use a strong password for your hotspot.
